International Design Registration
The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs allows an applicant to obtain design protection in up to 90 countries by filing one single international application without the requirement of a basic application.
International design applications are filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). After the administrative procedure by WIPO the IP Office of each country chosen by an applicant examines the international application independently and then issues a decision in relation to granting a protection.
The Hague System does not only offer a cost-effective solution for obtaining design protection through centralizing all administrative matters, the Hague System also provides applicants with a time-saving mechanism for acquiring, maintaining and managing registered rights on designs.
