Zuykov and partners has become a member of the International Association of Organizations Engaged in Combating Illegal Trade in Counterfeit Products “Anticounterfeit.”

Commenting on the firm’s membership in the Association, Managing Partner Sergey Zuykov noted that one of the most pressing issues in recent years has been the dramatic increase in the sale of counterfeit goods online and through marketplaces.

“On October 1, the Law on the Platform Economy will come into force. However, the law does not contain provisions defining how marketplaces should combat counterfeit products. Therefore, there is a need to develop regulations governing the interaction between rights holders and digital platforms. The adoption of such regulations requires coordinated efforts from businesses, legislators, and the relevant federal executive authorities,” Sergey Zuykov emphasized.

According to him, participation in the Association and the establishment of the Intellectual Property Committee will help build a systematic dialogue between businesses and the government, address current challenges faced by rights holders, and develop proposals aimed at improving regulation.

In practical work on combating infringements, Zuykov and partners use the ZIPDetect — an automated system for identifying and suppressing violations of trademark rights on the internet. ZIPDetect not only detects infringements but also enables a full response cycle: from identification to enforcement measures, including the preparation and submission of complaints, as well as assistance in blocking counterfeit goods.

“In addition to directly combating counterfeit products, the Association will become an important platform for discussing issues related to the registration and protection of all types of intellectual property, not only at the level of the Russian Federation but also within the EAEU framework,” Sergey Zuykov added.

Representatives of Zuykov and partners will also participate in the International Anti-Counterfeit Forum, which will take place on May 28 in Astana.
