On May 28, the International Anti-Counterfeit Forum is taking place in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan. The forum’s business agenda includes the plenary session Anti-Counterfeit 2026: A Digital Economy Without Counterfeits - Trust and Transparency!, as well as nine working sessions.

The main focus of the discussion is the digital agenda, including the implementation of AI, digital labeling systems, and new approaches to intellectual property protection. Experts are also discussing the protection of intangible assets, combating counterfeiting in e-commerce across the EAEU, building trust in media in the age of AI, and other topics.

During the panel session EAEU Without Counterfeits: Consumer Protection Technologies in E-Commerce, Sergey Zuykov, Chairman of the Committee on Intellectual Property and Anti-Counterfeiting of the International Association “Anti-Counterfeit” and a Eurasian patent attorney, delivered a speech.

Sergey Zuykov presented proposals for rules governing interaction among marketplaces, rights holders, and sellers.

“The Association believes that it is necessary to develop a regulatory act governing procedures for preventing intellectual property rights infringements: unified requirements for documentation when filing complaints, registration of complaints, marketplace response procedures, and response timelines.”

It was also proposed to introduce a special form or a personal account for rights holders to submit complaints, as well as mechanisms for blocking products or sellers and recording cases of inaction or refusals by marketplaces, after which liability would arise.
