On October 1, the Pravo.ru conference “The Right to Sell: New Retail Rules” took place, bringing together business representatives, legal professionals, and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in retail and e-commerce.

The conference program was divided into three thematic tracks: grocery retail, non-food retail, and e-commerce. One of the key topics was the protection of consumers and rights holders against the distribution of counterfeit products amid the rapid growth of online commerce.

Sergey Zuykov, Managing Partner at Zuykov and Partners, spoke during the session “Counterfeiting: Consumer Protection, Market Access and Areas of Responsibility.” In his presentation, he shared practical experience in identifying and combating infringements on online marketplaces and discussed modern tools for protecting intellectual property rights.

Sergey Zuykov paid particular attention to new methods of counterfeit distribution and other infringements of rights holders’ interests on online platforms. As e-commerce continues to evolve, so do the methods used by infringers: marketplace monitoring requires the processing of large volumes of data, the prompt identification of suspicious product listings, and a systematic approach to addressing infringements.

Against this backdrop, technology has become an important component of effective brand protection. At Zuykov and Partners, the proprietary automated system ZIPDetect is used to monitor and identify infringements, including the distribution of counterfeit products, trademark infringements, parallel imports, price dumping, and other violations across major online marketplaces.
