On October 5, 2024, several patent fees are to increase

According to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1278 (dated 09/18/2024), a number of measures will come into effect on October 5, including an increase in patent fees, a reduction in their payment period and the abolition of certain benefits.

The main change is the cancellation of the 30% discount for electronic submission to Rospatent.

On October 5, payment of the fee for filing for registration and examination of an application for an invention will be increased from 11,060 to 18,000 rubles, filing for registration and examination of an application for a utility model - from 2,730 to 5,000 rubles, filing for registration and examination of an application for an industrial design - from 3,290 to 5,000 rubles.

The cost of registration of an invention, utility model, industrial design, publication of information on the grant of a patent and its issuance in the form of an electronic security document will significantly increase from 2,100 to 10,000 rubles.

Filing an application and substantive examination for a trademark will cost 17,000 rubles (previously 10,500), and trademark registration and issuance of a certificate in the form of an electronic document will cost 18,000 rubles (previously 11,200).

Thus, starting from October 5, 2024, the fees for trademark registration in the 1st class of the ICTU will include:

• registration of the application – 4,000 rubles
• substantive examination – 13,000 rubles
• trademark registration – 18,000 rubles
• issuance of a certificate on paper – 3,000 rubles

The additional payment period for a number of fees related to trademark registration will now be 1 month from the date of expiration of the main period. It will be provided subject to an increase in the amount of the fee by 100%.
