On June 11-12, the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys is taking place in Almaty.

Sergey Zuykov, a Russian patent attorney and Managing Partner of Zuykov and partners, moderated the session titled “Issues of Selling Counterfeit Goods Online and on Marketplaces in the CIS Countries.”

During the roundtable discussion, participants explored the possibilities of pre-trial mechanisms for blocking the sale of counterfeit goods on marketplaces. Roman Larshin, Head of the Legal Department at Zuykov and partners, presented proposals for improving anti-counterfeiting measures, noting that:

This is not a problem of a single brand or one country, but a challenge for the entire digital economy of the CIS. Effective anti-counterfeiting efforts are only possible through a shift from manual complaints to automated monitoring and the legislative establishment of marketplace liability. Otherwise, we will continue to fight the consequences rather than the root cause.
