Alcoholic Siberian Group may launch production of Exzo aperitifs

Ruzsky Blending Plant LLC, a member of the Alcoholic Siberian Group (ASG), has received a declaration of conformity for the production of aperitifs under the Exzo trademark with flavors of pineapple-kiwi, melon-watermelon, raspberry-mango. This brand is registered according to the 33rd class of ICGS for Cyprus KPO Marketing, affiliated with ASG. No products are being produced under this trademark yet, and the stage of studying demand and assessing market potential is underway. 

The eponymous trademark "Exzo" also belongs to "Arnest YunIrus" (formerly "Unilever Rus"), under which ice cream and fruit ice are produced.

Arnest YunIrus has a minimal chance of claims against ASG, according to Sergey Zuykov, patent attorney and managing partner of Zuykov and partners. The registration of a brand for goods of the 33rd class of the ICGS is an effective protection, since first you need to cancel the trademark, having proved misleading the consumer, the expert explains. "But so far, this probability is estimated as scanty due to the low popularity of ice cream," he states.

According to the research company NTech, in the ranking of the top 500 brands by the end of 2024, Exzo ice cream occupies the 14th position in the Ice Cream category - its share is 1.2% in Russian retail.
